Neuropeptides for cognition and focus research

The cognition collection covers three neuropeptides used in laboratory research on the nervous system: Selank, Semax and VIP (vasoactive intestinal peptide). Selank and Semax are short synthetic peptides modelled on naturally occurring sequences, while VIP is a native neuropeptide with roles across the brain, gut and immune system. All three are supplied lyophilised, for research use only. Although they share a collection, they come from different families: two are short synthetic fragments designed for stability, and one is a full-length native neuropeptide. That matters for handling, because longer peptides such as VIP are generally more susceptible to degradation once in solution.

Selank and Semax

Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide based on tuftsin, a short fragment of immunoglobulin G, extended with a Pro-Gly-Pro sequence that improves its stability. It has been studied in animal models of anxiety-related behaviour and for its effects on neurotransmitter systems. Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide analogue of the ACTH(4-10) fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone, researched mainly for its influence on brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) expression and in models of neuroprotection.

Vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP)

VIP is a 28-amino-acid neuropeptide that signals through the VPAC1 and VPAC2 receptors. In the brain it is expressed in the suprachiasmatic nucleus, where it helps synchronise circadian rhythms, and it is also studied for its roles in immune regulation and smooth muscle relaxation. Its broad receptor distribution makes it a common tool in neuroendocrine research. It is also used as the reference ligand when characterising VPAC receptor signalling in cell lines. Selank, Semax and VIP are each supplied in 10mg vials.

Testing, handling and shipping

Batches are analysed by Janoshik, an independent laboratory, and our published reports are on the Lab Results page. Neuropeptides are fragile once in solution, so keep lyophilised vials cold and dark and refrigerate them after reconstitution.

We ship from the Netherlands Monday to Saturday, usually within 24 hours of payment, and orders above €150 ship free. These compounds are for laboratory research only and are not for human consumption. Delivery takes 1 to 2 working days to the Netherlands and Belgium and 3 to 8 working days elsewhere in Europe.

Cognition research peptides: FAQ

What is the difference between Selank and Semax?

Both are synthetic heptapeptides that end in the stabilising Pro-Gly-Pro sequence, but they are based on different molecules. Selank is modelled on tuftsin and studied in anxiety-related behaviour models, while Semax is based on an ACTH fragment and studied mainly for BDNF expression and neuroprotection.

What is VIP?

VIP (vasoactive intestinal peptide) is a naturally occurring 28-amino-acid neuropeptide. It acts on the VPAC1 and VPAC2 receptors and is studied in circadian rhythm, immune and smooth muscle research.

Why do Selank and Semax end in Pro-Gly-Pro?

The Pro-Gly-Pro sequence makes short peptides more resistant to breakdown by enzymes, which extends their stability in experimental systems compared with the parent fragments.

How should neuropeptides be stored?

Keep lyophilised vials cold, dry and protected from light. After reconstitution, store the solution refrigerated, use it within the stability window set by your protocol, and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Where can I see the lab reports?

Published Janoshik reports are on our Lab Results page, each with a batch number and key you can verify on Janoshik's website. For a batch that is not listed, contact us and we will send the certificate.

Are cognition peptides for human use?

No. Selank, Semax and VIP are sold only as research materials for in-vitro and laboratory use. They are not nootropic supplements or medicines, and we do not provide dosing advice.
